Connect your iPhone
Find your computer on Wi-Fi automatically, or pair with a QR code, a 6-digit code, or by IP.
Connect your iPhone
Once the plugin is installed and enabled, connecting is usually as simple as tapping your computer's name. If it doesn't appear automatically, there are three reliable fallbacks.
Automatic discovery (the easy way)
With your iPhone and your Mac or PC on the same Wi-Fi network, your computer appears under "On this network" on the connect screen. Tap it to start streaming.
That's it for most setups. If your computer isn't listed, use one of the methods below.
Both devices must be on the same Wi-Fi. Phones often hop to cellular or a guest network without telling you — double-check the network name on each device if discovery fails.
If you don't see your Mac or PC
Scan the QR code
Open the PreviewMonitor setup panel on your computer — the gear in the Mercury Transmit settings — then scan the QR code it shows with the app. This connects you even when automatic discovery isn't working.
Enter the 6-digit code
The same settings window shows a 6-digit pairing code. Type it on the connect screen to find your Mac or PC over the local network.
The 6-digit code relies on network discovery to locate your computer. If you've turned discovery off (see below), use the QR code instead — the code won't work while discovery is disabled.
Connect by IP
If you know your computer's local IP address, you can enter it directly on the connect screen to reach it without discovery.
Prefer to stay hidden?
If you'd rather your computer didn't advertise itself on the network, open the plugin settings and switch "Discoverable on network" off.
- Your Mac or PC stops broadcasting its name, so it won't appear under "On this network."
- You can still connect by scanning the QR code.
- The 6-digit code won't work while discovery is off, because it needs the broadcast to locate your machine.
Pairing code
The first time a phone connects, your computer may ask it to confirm a code. A small window titled "PreviewMonitor Pairing" pops up in Premiere Pro or After Effects showing a 6-digit code — type it into the app to finish pairing.
If that window never appears, see Can't find the pairing code?.
