Can't find the pairing code
The "PreviewMonitor Pairing" window isn't showing up — here's where to look and how to make it appear.
Can't find the pairing code
When your iPhone asks to connect, the pairing code shows up in Premiere Pro or After Effects as a small floating window the moment the request arrives. The window is titled "PreviewMonitor Pairing" and shows a 6-digit code.
If you don't see it, work through these four checks.
1. Bring the app to the front
Click the Premiere Pro or After Effects icon in the Dock or taskbar. The pairing window floats above the app, but it can end up hidden behind other windows. Bringing the Adobe app forward brings the pairing window with it.
2. Check the plugin is enabled
The code can only appear if the plugin is loaded:
- Premiere Pro: Settings → Playback
- After Effects: Settings → Video Preview
The PreviewMonitor checkbox must be ticked (it appears as PremiereLive in the device list). Without it, the plugin isn't running and no code can appear. See Install & enable the plugin.
3. Open a sequence or composition
The plugin only goes live once a sequence (Premiere) or composition (After Effects) is open. Open any project and drop a clip into the timeline, then try connecting again.
4. Still nothing?
Tap Cancel on your iPhone, make sure your iPhone and your Mac or PC are on the same Wi-Fi, then try Connect again.
Prefer not to type a code? Open the PreviewMonitor setup panel (the gear in the Mercury Transmit settings) and scan the QR code with the app instead. See Connect your iPhone.
