Privacy Policy

PreviewMonitor ("the App", "we", "us") is a companion app that displays a live preview of Adobe Premiere or After Effects running on your own computer, over your local network. We designed PreviewMonitor to collect as little as possible. This policy explains what the App does and does not collect, and the choices you have.

Information We Do Not Collect

We do not require an account. We do not ask for your name, email address, phone number, or precise location. We do not use advertising identifiers (no IDFA), and we do not track you across other apps or websites.

Information Stored Only on Your Device

To function, the App stores the following on your device only: your in-app settings (such as codec, resolution, and layout); a randomly generated device identifier and your device name, used to identify your iPhone to your own computer during pairing; and details of computers you have paired with (their name, last-known local-network address, and a pairing token issued by your computer). This information stays on your device and is sent only to your own paired computer over your local network. We never receive it.

Permissions

Camera — used only to scan the pairing QR code shown by the desktop plugin. Local Network — used only to discover and connect to your own computer for streaming. Photo Library — used only to save a frame you choose to export, and to load a video or photo you pick for the Monitor a Clip feature. Each permission is requested the first time you use the related feature, and you can change it at any time in iOS Settings.

Anonymous Usage Analytics

To understand how features are used and to improve the App, we collect anonymous, aggregate usage data through TelemetryDeck, a privacy-focused analytics provider. This includes which features you use and how often (for example, starting a stream or changing a setting) and coarse technical details such as app version, iOS version, device model, and language. It also includes a device identifier that is hashed on your device before it is sent, so it cannot be traced back to you. This data is not linked to your identity and is not used to track you across other apps or websites, so no App Tracking Transparency prompt is required. You can turn analytics off at any time — see "Your Choices" below.

How We Use Information

We use information solely to operate and improve the App. We do not sell your information, share it with advertisers, or use it for cross-app tracking.

Third Parties

Analytics is processed by TelemetryDeck (telemetrydeck.com), an EU-based, GDPR-compliant provider that is contractually committed to protecting this data and does not sell it. The desktop plugin you connect to runs on your own computer; the App communicates only with that plugin, over your local network.

Data Retention and Deletion

Settings and paired-computer details live on your device and are removed when you delete the App or clear them within the App. Anonymous analytics are aggregate and cannot be tied to you individually; to stop all future analytics collection, turn off the Usage Analytics toggle.

Your Choices

You can turn off Usage Analytics at any time in the App (Privacy & Legal → Usage Analytics) or in iOS Settings → PreviewMonitor. You can grant or revoke Camera, Local Network, and Photo Library access at any time in iOS Settings.

Children

The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Connection Security

PreviewMonitor connects only to your own computer on your local network — the live stream is never relayed through our servers or over the internet. Connecting requires your explicit authorization: the desktop plugin shows a six-digit pairing code (and a QR code), and a device cannot connect until that code is entered on the device or the QR code is scanned. Only after the code is verified does your computer issue that device a session token. The token lets that specific device reconnect to that specific computer later without re-entering the code; it is stored only on your device and your computer, and is never sent to us. You can also make your computer undiscoverable: when you turn off "Discoverable on network" in the plugin, your computer stops advertising itself and only a device that scans the QR code can connect (the six-digit-code path is then disabled) — useful on shared or public networks. You can stop trusting a device at any time from your computer. We apply reasonable measures to protect the limited information the App handles.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the date shown above. Your continued use of the App after a change takes effect means you accept the updated policy.
