Computer doesn't appear
Your Mac or PC isn't showing up on the connect screen — here's how to fix it.
Computer doesn't appear
If your computer isn't listed under "On this network" on the connect screen, work through these checks in order. The first two fix the large majority of cases.
1. Same Wi-Fi network
Your iPhone and your Mac or PC must be on the same Wi-Fi network. This is by far the most common cause.
- Check the Wi-Fi name on both devices — they must match.
- Make sure your iPhone hasn't dropped to cellular data or hopped onto a guest network.
- Guest networks and "client isolation" settings on some routers block devices from seeing each other. If you're on one, switch to your main network.
PreviewMonitor only works over local Wi-Fi — see How networking works.
2. The plugin is enabled
The plugin must be switched on in your Adobe app:
- Premiere Pro: Settings → Playback, with PreviewMonitor's checkbox ticked (it appears as PremiereLive).
- After Effects: Settings → Video Preview, with Mercury Transmit on and PreviewMonitor ticked as the device.
If you just installed the plugin, restart Premiere Pro or After Effects so it loads. See Install & enable the plugin.
3. A sequence or composition is open
The plugin only goes live once there's something to play. Open a sequence (Premiere) or composition (After Effects) and drop a clip into the timeline. With nothing open, your computer won't advertise itself.
4. Connect another way
If discovery still won't cooperate, you don't have to rely on it. Open the PreviewMonitor setup panel (the gear in the Mercury Transmit settings) and either:
- Scan the QR code with the app, or
- type the 6-digit code on the connect screen, or
- connect by IP if you know your computer's local address.
See Connect your iPhone for all the options.
If you deliberately turned "Discoverable on network" off in the plugin settings, your computer won't appear in the list at all — that's expected. Use the QR code to connect (the 6-digit code won't work while discovery is off).
5. Check your firewall
A firewall on your computer can block the connection before it reaches your phone. Make sure your Adobe app (and the PreviewMonitor plugin) is allowed through the firewall on your local network. See Stream won't start for details.
